NOOR AND SPIRIT
We know from our study of Upanishads and Vedas that 7 or 14 divine selfs were created prior to the creation. A sect of Muslims is of the opinion that the Noor (Light) of 14 Ahlulbayt, which included the Noor of Mohammad was created prior to all creation. Upanishads and Vedas talk of the 14 divine selfs being created from the devatma-sakti (divya as well as atma; Noorani Rooh) created by Manifest Self of God (the Paramatma). Certain Muslims are of the opinion that there was one Noor-e-Mohammad, which divided into two halves to create the Noors of Mohammad and Ali and subsequently the remaining of the 14 Noors of Ahlulbayt were created, which were actually 7 as they had 7 names. This process is exactly similar to the one we have seen in Brhad-aranyaka Upanishad and Paingala Upanishad with the only exception that these two Upanishads shed much more information on the process of creation than any other scripture known to us.
It is the common belief of the Muslims that all spirits were created much before the creation of Adam. Upon the creation, a pledge was taken from the spirits. Later, in Book-III, when we talk of the Vedas, we will show to you that the last hymn of Yajur Veda says that all things, be it sun or the moon, stars or earth, they are engaged in the worship of One God. Similar to this, Muntahiur Aamal, a revered book of the Muslims, talks of Yaume-Alast and says that was the day when each and every particle pledged the Oneness of God, at the time of Creation.
The Holy Prophet said:
You shall not be annihilated, because you have been created to last till eternity. You only go from this life of actions (good or bad) to the life of happiness or misery.
In this regard, Pooya/Ali commentary states: “The creator Lord created a group of His chosen representatives, thoroughly purified them, gave them His wisdom, and then commissioned them to guide mankind, in every age and every clime, till eternity. One after another the Prophets of Allah came with divine guidance at every stage of development in the human society; and in the end the last Messenger of Allah, the Holy Prophet, came with the final message, after which the office of prophethood was terminated. To protect and preserve the revealed truth in its original form, uncorrupted, the merciful Lord, after risalat (Prophethood), established the institution of imamat, and appointed Imams (guide-leaders). Through the Imams, the thoroughly purified, the divine guidance will continue to guide the people to the end of this world. Allah has shown him (man) the right way (Quran, Surah Dahr: 3), and given him the free choice to identify these rightly guided guides and obtain true guidance, or reject them and go astray.”
There is one question that arises! Why is it that the Ahlulbayt, if they were the Devatas, didn’t use any of their superhuman powers, when their rights were usurped, when they were put in prison, or when they were being killed? Answer is simple! The very purpose of the creation of Ahlubayt or the 14 Noors was to create a link between God and us. As Krishna says in Gita, it has always been difficult for man to worship the unseen (nirakaar) i.e. the Unmanifest God. The link between God and us was created in all manners, so much so that our self is directly related to their Self, our spirit is directly related to their Spirit and it is they who have been given control over all things, including life and death, guidance, sustenance and even the food that we eat, the water that we get through rain, etc. Salvation too is related directly through them, and this is confirmed both by Mohammad and Krishna as well as Upanishads and Vedas.
These Devatas or Ahlulbayt continued to guide Prophets for our guidance. Man disobeyed them and there were times when the Noor of the one or other descended in pious and holy bodies on earth. Finally, a time came when they all decided to come down on earth, one after another. Since Ahlulbayt were to be the manifest proofs of God on earth, it was pre-requisite that they live like ordinary humans, even if they are not recognized, their positions usurped or Zulmat unleashes its agents against them. This was so because they were to present themselves as the highest epitome of virtue and as beings whose acts can be copied. The kind of life they lived, the worship that they did and acts of virtue and piety could not have been copied if they had presented themselves as beings superior to us. Had they not done so, man would have said it is not possible to adhere to the teachings being told as they are super humans. But when they showed through practice and adherence all that was being preached and taught is very much within our ability, they became the zenith towards which we all have to aspire to reach. That is why, in our commentary of the Gita, we have explicitly said that the Purushottama (Highest Beings) of Gita refer to Ahlulbayt or Devatas when they would come to take birth on earth as humans and also refer to select individuals who raise their selfs to such levels that their selfs got in communion with the Manifest Self. This communion of self with Manifest Self is enlightenment. Even Gita has said that those whose self reaches this level, God’s virtues and characteristics start reflecting in their personalities. If certain acts of Ahlulbayt appear to be godly, we shouldn’t be surprised!
Despite the fact they lived life on earth as common human beings, time and again we saw several acts which confirmed their superhuman characteristics. These included the miracles they performed, the events of the future that they prophesied and various other superhuman characteristics that they showed from time to time. These superhuman acts too were performed only as guidance and to make us understand their high position. Otherwise we find them behaving, in all circumstances, as a normal God-fearing, pious men would behave. This abstinence from revealing their true position went to such an extent that even on that fateful day of 19th Ramazan, when Ibn-e-Muljim’s sword struck Ali’s skull, he knew beforehad that he would be killed but this knowledge didn’t stop him from going to mosque on that day. Neither he planned for his defence. Husain knew that he was proceeding towards certain death but he continued to proceed. Imams knew that poison had been mixed to the food that was placed in front of them but they went ahead with eating that food. Yes, since they also wanted us to reveal their lofty positions, Ali showed through words and actions that he knew he was certain of getting killed, Husain too said or did things that confirmed he was heading towards a sure death and Imams who were poisoned told in advance they knew the food in front of them was having poison in it. But they had come to live as human beings so that we - the humans - emulate them.
In spite of such clear proofs being given from time to time, evil spared no chance to harm them. All attempts were made to remove them from the scene. Out of the 14 Ahlulbayt, 13 of them have been killed and it is believed that the last of them – the 14th Ahlulbayt – has gone in occultation by the Will of God and will present himself in person upon God’s order. This last is known as Mohammad al-Mahdi and he continues to guide us and show us the way from his occultation, just as light shows through the cloud. He will be possessing the same Noor that was working in the body of his grandfather, Prophet Mohammad. As we have said, there are 7 spirits which used 14 bodies on earth.
The Forces of Darkness or Evil have done their best and succeeded in removing 13 of the Ahlulbayt from the face of this earth when they took birth as humans; and the last of them is awaiting the right time to appear and conclude the work of his predecessors.
This last of the Ahlulbayt is also the Kalki Avatar of the Puranas. By the time he will come, conditions will change and man will realize that these Ahlulbayt are the true representatives of God - the remnant of the Noor that was created prior to all creation, last portion on earth of the Spirit of Truth or the Paramatma. It is this reason why Mahdi has also been referred to as Baqiyatullah (the remaining portion of Allah) in certain Islamic narrations.
We have seen earlier that Isa (Jesus) referred to them collectively as the Spirit of Truth, though Christians don’t know what Jesus was talking about. We have also seen that the Prophet said:
I was a prophet when Adam was yet amidst water and clay.
And on another occasion he said:
Ali and myself are the two halves of the same Noor (light).
Now we present before you a few more instances from Quran and traditions where either Noor or Rooh (Spirit) has been talked about. There are many instances when Quran talks of Light (Noor), and surely it is this Noor of Mohammad through which the entire cosmos was created. At few places, Quran has talked of Noor and Zulmat together, even said that Allah is the creator of Noor and Zulmat, and despite the fact that Mohammad was repeatedly talking of his Noor and the Noor of Ali, Muslims couldn’t understand what the Quran was talking about. If Noor in Quran referred to those who are the guides, Zulmat refer to the power that misguides. Both these powers are working from within and without. It is in between these opposing powers that man has to give the test. He has to identify the guides and tread their path of worship of God to attain salvation.
Then those who believe in him (Mohammad) honour him, help him, and follow the Noor (Light) which is sent down with him: They are the successful.
Quran, 7:157
It is clearly said that certain Noor was sent down with Mohammad. It is unfortunate that even this clear injunction of Quran couldn’t lead Muslims to relate Noor talked about in Quran with Mohammad and the Ahlulbayt (the force of guidance) and the opposite Zulmat as the misguiding force created by God.
And Quran said:
Now hath come unto you Noor (Light) from God and a plain scripture.
Quran, 5:15
Since Quran is referred to here, whose sanctity we all are aware of, the mention of Noor coming to us too is reference to the Noor of the Ahlulbayt descending in human bodies on earth. Remember, Prophet Mohammad had said he is leaving too weighty things: Quran and Ahlulbayt. Yet, Muslims couldn’t relate to the two together and concluded that by Noor, the Quran is meant. Read the aforementioned verse again. ‘A plain scripture’ is being separately talked about along with ‘Noor’.
The Quran says:
Is he whose bosom God hath expanded for the surrender (unto Him), so that he followeth a Noor (Light) from His Lord (as he who disbelieveth)? Then woe unto those whose hearts are hardened against remembrance of God. Such are in plain error.
Quran, 39:22
The aforementioned verse reveals clearly that following Noor would mean surrender to God and the Noor is from the God. Leaving the Noor leads to hearts hardened against remembrance of God. If we see Muslims today severing the heads of innocents, it is because they have no understanding of those who carried the Noor, who were the Divine Guides. Hence, their hearts have hardened and they are in plain error.
Now see the following verse which is talking of two forces i.e. the Forces of Zulmat (Darkness synonymous with Misguidance) and the Forces of Noor (Light synonymous with Guidance) and Ahlulbayt are representatives of Noor. Understanding this would eventually lead us to conclude that Zulmat is the power that pulls us towards materialism and away from the path of Noor. Quran also confirms that both Noor and Zulmat are created by God with the express purpose of either guiding or misguiding the humanity. This was essential as man was not created as angels who act as divine robots, doing exactly what they have been asked to do. If angels are representatives of Devatas, there are representatives of the Forces of Darkness as well. Satan or Shaytan is one such representative, though there are many. Man has been created to give an examination that he is supposed to pass with flying colours. Amidst both the powers of Noor (guidance) and Zulmat (misguidance) acting inside him and also from outside, he is supposed to use his intellect and wisdom to find the path of deliverance and tread upon it to the extent that his Atma becomes one with the Supreme Spirit (Paramatma). The same is being described in the following verse of Quran.
Allah is the guardian of those who believe. He brings them out of the darkness into the light; and (as to) those who disbelieve, their guardians are Shaytans who take them out of the light into the darkness; they are the inmates of the fire, in it they shall abide.
Quran, 2:257
In addition to this, there are several narrations (Hadees) relating to Ahlulbayt that talk of the subject of a Divine Spirit. We invite you to see some of these Hadees. From the narrations of the Ahlulbayt, it is evident they were aware of the exact knowledge regarding the spirit and its composition but either modesty or the need of the time prevented them from describing the true nature of Divine Spirit.
Some of the Hadees are as follows:
Hadees no 714 from Al-Kafi tells that Jafar Sadiq, the sixth Imam (the eighth Ahlulbayt), said:
‘O Jabir! Allah, the Blessed, the Sublime, created the creatures in three classes; and this is the word of Allah, to Whom belong Might and Majesty: And you shall be three bands – Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!), Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!), and the Outstrippers; the Outstrippers those are they who are brought near (al-Waqiah, 56: 7-11). The Outstrippers are the Messengers of Allah and they have a special relation with Allah among His creatures. He put in them five arwah (pl. of rooh, that is, spirit). He sustained them with the roohul-qudus (the Pure Spirit), by which they perceive things (as they really are); and He sustained them with the roohul-iman (the Spirit of Faith), by which they fear Allah, to Whom belong Might and Majesty; and He sustained them with the roohul-quwwah (the Spirit of Power), by which they were empowered to obey Allah; and He sustained them with the roohush-shahwah (the Spirit of Desire), by which they were made desirous of obedience to Allah, to Whom belong Might and Majesty, and made to dislike obedience to Him; and He put in them the roohul-madraj (the Spirit of Movement), by which people go and come. And He put in the believers, the Companions of the Right, the Spirit of Faith, by which they fear Allah; and He put in them the Spirit of Power, by which they were empowered to obey Allah; and He put in them the Spirit of Desire, by which they were made desirous of obedience to Allah; and He put in them the Spirit of Movement, by which the people go and come.
This narration clearly hits at those who feel they would be spared because of lack of knowledge. Even if there is lack of knowledge, it is because you have not aspired to get it. Yes, if you aspire and do not reach the truth, despite sincerity, then you will surely be forgiven. Moreover, it is to be noted that there is no middle way, of half good and half bad. There are two types: Companions of the right and the companions of the left. Companions of the right are those who tread on the Straight Path that leads to God.
The Pure Spirit is only in the Prophet and passes on to the Imams at the death of the previous Imam. This Pure Spirit is all-powerful.
Mohammad al-Baqar (the seventh Ahlulbayt) was asked about the Knowledge of man of Knowledge (Hadees no. 715). He said:
O Jabir! There are five arwah (spirits) in the prophets and the successors. The roohul-qudus (the Pure Spirit), the roohul-iman (the Spirit of Faith), the roohul-hayat (the Spirit of Life equivalent to the Spirit of Movement in no. 714), and the roohul-quwwah (the Spirit of Power) and the roohush-shahwah (the Spirit of Desire). Then, by the Pure Spirit, O Jabir, they perceive what is below the Throne down to what is within the earth.’ Then he said: ‘O Jabir! These four arwah may be affected by contingencies, but the Pure Spirit is never diverted nor plays (i.e., it never acts purposelessly).
The entire description above though not thoroughly comprehensible is in sync with the Upanishads and a fresh translation of the Upanishads as well as what the Imam exactly said will only increase the similarities.
Even (in Hadees no. 716), Jafar al-Sadiq (the eighth Ahlulbayt) tells the reason how the Imam knows what is all over the earth when he is in his house with the curtain lowered. He said:
O Mufaddal! Allah, the Blessed, the Sublime, has put five arwah in the Prophet: the roohul-hayat (the Spirit of Life), by which he moves and comes and goes; the roohul-quwwah (the Spirit of Power), by which he rises and struggles; the roohush-shahwah (the Spirit of Desire), by which he eats and drinks and comes to women lawfully; and the roohul-iman (the Spirit of Faith), by which he accepts the faith and acts justly; and the roohul-qudus (the Pure Spirit), by which he bears the prophethood. Then, when the Prophet is taken away, the Pure Sprit is transferred and reaches the Imams. The Pure Spirit does not sleep nor does it become neglectful, it is not diverted, nor does it falsely display. But the (other) four arwah (spirits) sleep, are neglectful, falsely display themselves and are diverted. He (the Prophet or the Imam) sees (everything) by the Pure Spirit.
This narration shows roohul-qudus or Rooh is not reference to Jibreel (Gabriel) as translators have erroneously derived the meaning, thus leading us far off track.
On another occasion, Imam Jafar al-Sadiq – the eighth Ahlulbayt – talks of the Spirit by which Allah directs the steps of the Imams. Abu Basir (Hadees no. 717) asked Imam Jafar al-Sadiq about the words of Allah, in Quran, which says:
Even so We have revealed to thee a Spirit of Our bidding. Thou knewest not what the Book was, nor faith.
Quran, Ash-Shura, 42:52
Imam’s response to the question sums up all that the Upanishads say about the Holy Spirit and its relationship with the Devatas (Ahlulbayt). The Imam said about Spirit:
(It is) one of the created things of Allah to whom belong Might and Majesty; (it is) greater than Gabriel and Mikail. It was with the Messenger of Allah; it informed him and directed his steps, and it is with the Imams after him.
More about this Spirit is mentioned in Hadees no. 718. ‘A man from Hit (a town in Iraq) asked him (the Imam) about the words of Allah, to whom belong Might and Majesty:
Even so We have revealed to thee a Spirit of Our bidding.
He (the Imam) said: ‘Since Allah, to Whom belong Might and Majesty, sent this Spirit down on Mohammad, it has not ascended to Heaven; and it is in us.
This response by the Imam too confirms the knowledge that we derived from the Upanishadic teachings. But you will agree, the conditions were such that Imam could not have told more directly. Moreover, it was the man whose job it was to find the true path through his intellect, which he will do in the near future.
In 719, Abu Basir says that he asked Jafar al-Sadiq about the words of Allah, to Whom belong Might and Majesty: They will question thee concerning the Spirit. Say: ‘The Spirit is of the bidding of my Lord’ (Quran, Chapter Al-Isra’, 17:85). Imam said: ‘(It is) a created thing greater than Gabriel and Mikail; it was with the Messenger of Allah, it is with the Imams, and it is from the Kingdom (al-Malakut).’
Isn’t it clear from the Imam’s wordings that the ‘Spirit of Truth’ that Jesus was prophesying was reference to the Spirit or Noor of Devatas descending on earth? Interestingly, the Imam is also talking of a Heavenly Kingdom (al-Malakut), where God’s ruling is supreme and where the Manifest Self (Divine Spirit) dwells. It is to that Heavenly Kingdom that Prophet Mohammad was taken on the night of Meraj, an incident which is clearly described in the Quran. And Mohammad was face to face with Divine Spirit (Paramatma), with “a distance of two spears or even lesser,” says the Quran.
This kingdom will also be formed on earth upon the arrival of Mahdi (the Kalki Avatar). Interestingly, all through when Jesus was talking of the coming of Kingdom of God, it was reference to a time in future when the last remnant of the Spirit of Truth (Baqiatullah) will come to lead mankind and God’s rule will become supreme on earth as well. If you read our book ‘Aasman ki Badshahi’ (in Hindi), you will find that Jesus has repeatedly used the term ‘Kingdom of God’, as if imparting this knowledge was one of his chief aims.
Hadees no. 721 relates to the subject of Knowledge and Spirit. Abu Hamzah asked Jafar al-Sadiq, the sixth Imam (eighth Ahlulbayt) about knowledge: ‘Is it knowledge which the knower gets to know from the mouths of men, or (is it) in the book which is with you which you recite and learn from?’ He said: ‘The matter is greater than that and more essential. Have you not heard the words of Allah, to Whom belong Might and Majesty: ‘Even so We have revealed to thee a Spirit of Our Bidding. Thou knowest not what the Book was, nor faith?’ Then he said: ‘What do your companions say about this verse? Do they accept that he (the Messenger) was in a state in which he did not know what the book was, nor faith?’ I said: ‘May I be made your ransom, I don’t know what they say.’ He said (to me): ‘Indeed, he was in a state in which he did not know what the Book was, nor faith, until Allah Most High sent forth Spirit which is mentioned in the Book (Quran); and because He revealed it to him, He taught knowledge and understanding through it. This is the Spirit which Allah Most High gives to whom He wishes; and when He gives it to a slave, He teaches him understanding.’
It is clear from this narration that the Spirit chose the pious and pure body of Mohammad (who was known as Sadiq – truthful – and Ameen – honest – all over the Arab world when he was given prophethood (attained enlightenment), at the age of forty. It is narrated that Mohammad regularly used to go to the Cave of Hira to meditate and worship. This shows that as a common man, his pursuit to attain spiritual excellence was present. He was already famous all over the Arab world as truthful and honest, so much so that Lady Khadija got attracted to him because of his honesty and the great profit that Mohammad gave to her business, while working for her, and consequently gave the marriage proposal. Mohammad was 25 and Khadija was 40 when the marriage took place. Fifteen years later, when Mohammad was 40, and as he worshipped in the Cave of Hira, it is narrated that Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) came with the first teachings of Quran. Narrations talk of the cave filling with Light. There are narrations, more common among Sunni Muslims, as per which Angel Jibreel opened Mohammad’s heart and filled it with Light. Muslims have not been able to understand exactly what happened. Imam Jafar al-Sadiq confirms that part of the Spirit descended (avtarit) in Mohammad when he says: “Indeed, he was in a state in which he did not know what the Book was, nor faith, until Allah Most High sent forth Spirit which is mentioned in the Book (Quran); and because He revealed it to him, He taught knowledge and understanding through it.” This narration of Imam confirms that the book Quran was revealed by God only when the spirit descended on Mohammad and thereafter God revealed the Quran. When we read the life of Buddha (later in this BOOK), we will understand that he too was aspiring for this enlightenment and revelation when he meditated under the Bodhi tree. Muslims of the time were unable to understand how it was possible for God to send verses, one by one, on Mohammad from somewhere in the high heavens, down to earth and in Mohammad’s mind. For them, it was essential to be given a concept of an angel Jibreel (Gabriel), who brought the messages from top to bottom. In those days when the presence of a messenger was prerequisite for the message to be taken from one place to another, no other concept could have been fathomed. However, in modern days of e-transmissions and internet, it is easier to believe that message can be transported from place to another person’s mind. It is strange that Muslims of this modern era too continue to believe in there being a necessity of Jibreel between God and Mohammad, as if God of Mohammad was far less powerful than the modern technological advances of today. We must remember that once the part of Noor or Spirit made Mohammad’s mind his office (by descending there), there was no need for a messenger in between as Allah’s Will was directly made known inside Mohammad’s mind and the verses of the Quran were consequently revealed. You will see in Part-III of this BOOK that even the Hindus are of opinion that the Vedic hymns were revealed in the minds of seers. Likewise, with the Quran!
Another misconception that is present among the Muslims is regarding the identity of Jibreel. When Quran talks of Roohul-Qudus, they take it to mean that it is reference to Jibreel – the angel. There are many who, wherever the word ‘Rooh’ (spirit) is present, translate it to Jibreel. This is due to their misunderstanding. Wherever Rooh is mentioned in Quran, it is reference to the Spirit that descended. And Jibreel (Gabriel) is an agent working for the Holy Spirit who hadn’t even the power to go where Mohammad could go on the Night of Ascent (Meraj).
In the Hadees (Tradition) that we present here (Tradition No. 722), Imam Ali even refutes the belief that Gabriel is ‘Rooh’. “A man came to Ameer-ul-Momineen (Ali) and asked him about the Spirit: ‘Is it not Gabriel?’ Ameer-ul-Momineen said to him: ‘Jibreel (Gabriel) is one of the angels, and the Spirit is not Jibreel.’ – and he repeated this to the man – then he (the man) said to him: ‘You have said something very important; no one claims that the Spirit is not Jibreel. Ameer-ul-Momineen said to him: ‘You are wrongly guided, and you recount from the people of misguidance. Allah Most High has said to His Prophet: Allah’s command comes; see not to hasten it. Glory be to Him! High be the exalted above that they associate with Him! He sends down the angels with the Spirit (Quran, Surah an-Nahl, 16:1-2), and the Spirit is not the angels, may the blessings of Allah be upon them.’”
It is unfortunate that most Muslims, to this day, are of opinion that Roohul-Qudus is reference to Jibreel. Imam says one who believes so is wrongly guided, and recount from people of misguidance. See how the description comes exactly close to the descriptions of the Vedas, Upanishads and Puranas. As we said, we will have to understand Quran through the knowledge derived from the Upanishads and Vedas and vice-versa.
Let us now give certain quotes from the Holy Prophet which further shed light on the subject discussed in the Upanishads. All this will again confirm to the knowledge that we have derived from the Upanishads and the Vedas.
(1) I and Ali are of one and the same light.
(2) Ali is a part of me and I am a part of Ali.
(3) The root of Ali and me is the same, but all other people come from various other origins.
(Zaynul Fata; Ibna Maghazali; Shafa-i; Kanzul Ummal, Ahmad ibna Hanbal).
The Holy Prophet has said:
Allah selected Adam in preference to all other creatures; from among the descendants of Adam, He selected Nooh; from among the descendants of Nooh, He selected Ibrahim; from among the descendants of Ibrahim, He selected Ismael; from among the Quraish, He selected Hashim. All of them carried my Noor (the first light which came forth from the Absolute and goes on till the day of resurrection to manifest ultimately in the arc of ascent). It passed through Abdul Muttalib to Abdullah and Abu Talib. I am from Abdullah and Ali is from Abu Talib. Ali and I are one and the same Noor.
Verse 3:34 from Quran too cannot be explained until you rely on our argument given from the Upanishads as per which the 7 lights became offspring of one another and kept taking birth on earth in human bodies. See what the Quran says:
Offspring one of the other; and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.
In Part-I of this BOOK, we gave a verse from Upanishads, which too talks of the inter-relationship of Devatas in similar wordings. Scholars have wrongly understood this verse till now.
Let us conclude with the knowledge we have derived so far. 7 Spirits or Noors came to this earth along with Adam. The Spirits used the bodies of pious people for the more greater purpose of keeping the torch of worship and knowledge burning, or merely for the purpose of maintaining continuance of their presence on earth, as presence of the Noor is essential for the very survival of this earth.
Zulmat too was here to misguide and tried its best that man deviates not only from the teachings being imparted by Noor but also from understanding their true role and identity in Divine Creation Plan.
All of us, prone as we are to material leanings, committed one great error. When the Noor descended in the body of Krishna and Krishna’s body was used as if Manifest Self was talking from it, we began valuing the body of Krishna. When Noor descended in the body of Buddha, after great effort and meditation put in by Siddharth Gautam, we started valuing the body of Buddha. Likewise, when Noor descended in the body of 14 on earth, whether it had 7 or 14 constituents, we started revering the Ahlulbayt.
Believers of Krishna, Buddha, Ahlulbayt and all others in whom the Noor descended to guide and lead mankind committed one gross error. Instead of understanding the Divine Creation Plan and the role of Devatas or Noor in guiding and leading mankind to the Manifest Self (Paramatma), and eventually the Absolute God, we either went to revering the bodies in which the Noor was present or completely denied the concept of Noor. Message is clear: we have to see the relationship from top downwards and not from below and then go up. Absolute God created a Manifest Self which created a Noor that had several manifestations. That Noor descended in pious human bodies, at some place the body was called Krishna, at other it was called Buddha and at yet other place, it was called Mohammad, Ali, Fatima, Hasan, Husain, Jafar or Musa. Noor has to be understood and not bodies. That is why Krishna in Gita talked of an inverted tree, with roots in heaven and branches coming on to earth. But devoid of certain vital links, even the commentators of Gita couldn’t understand.
